Stories of Course 29: Beginning of university journeys at VLU

From August 28th to September 8th, 2023, VLU holds admission procedures for Course 29 freshmen of all majors at Campus 1 and the main campus of the school.

From August 28th to September 8th, 2023, VLU holds the admission procedures for Course 29 freshmen of 62 majors at Campus 1 (Law, Economic Law, English Language, Chinese Language, Korean Language, and Architecture) and the main campus (remaining majors). The university prepares all organizational stages carefully with the lecturers and consultants, and collaborators are always ready to support parents and freshmen to finish the admission procedures quickly and accurately, and officially join the dynamic and creative VLU community. 

ENROLL AT VLU WITH FAMILY

From the previous night, Mr. Tran Ngoc Huynh and his family arrived in Saigon from Ca Mau to enroll the school for their daughter, Huynh Trinh Thao Vy. Mr. Ngoc Huynh shared that in the university environment, his family hopes Thao Vy not only gain the knowledge but also develop the living skills and sports comprehensively. Through the learning process, his family chose VLU because the school has various extracurricular activities, learning environment and dynamic activities that can help Thao Vy’s student life become more interesting and meaningful.

Also from Ca Mau, Mrs. Trinh Thi Bich Phuong with her son, Vu The Long who came for admission in Information Technology major, shared that they find the school’s facilities extremely impressive: “I think VLU’s learning environment is not much different from the international environment that students studying abroad experience. My family and I feel very assured to let my son study here.”

Phan Nguyen Ngoc Tho is also a freshman who receives full support from his family to join VLU. Tho’s father, Mr. Pham Thanh Hoang is the Principal of Duong Minh Chau highschool (Tay Ninh), he was also a former high school teacher of MSc. Nguyen Minh Tan, current lecturer of Faculty of Information Technology, VLU. When Ngoc Tho was ready for university, Mr. Hoang and family chose Information Technology of VLU for their son. Mr Hoang shared that in many collaboration years with VLU, he believes in the training quality of VLU. Moreover, with the instruction of Mr. Tan, the family is more assured when their son goes to school away from home for the first time.

YOUNG TALENTS JOIN VLU STUDENT COMMUNITY

From September this year, Lam Thanh My, a talented and young actress who appears in many cinematographic works which were loved by Vietnamese audiences, will officially become a freshman of Public Relations major, VLU. She shared that when deciding to choose Public Relations major, VLU was the first choice. VLU has left many beautiful impressions on her from the day she came to school to submit her academic admission application. Lam Thanh My shared: “Right at the beginning of grade 12, I had planned to enroll at VLU. I was impressed because the school facilities are very good, the school is also beautiful and spacious. The learning environment is dynamic and comfortable with invested facilities will help students have the most effective learning experience.

With the policy of optimal student care, VLU always awards many scholarships, admission priority for young talents, accompanying the Government to encourage them to pursue the path of gaining knowledge. With impressive sporting achievements and being the owner of the Silver medal of 2020 HCMC Young Volleyball tournament, Pham Thanh Phi is one of the Course 29 freshmen who is directly enrolled by the school this year. Having passion in digital technology, Thanh Phi chose Information Technology major, VLU because of the belief in the quality as well as the highly applicable training orientation that the school aims for.

CONTINUING MOTHER’S UNFINISHED DREAM

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy and her son Pham Nguyen Quoc Bao arrived in HCMC from Dak Nong province for admission in the Dentistry major of VLU. This is not only Quoc Bao’s long-cherished wish, but especially, becoming a dentist was also his mother’s dream when she was young. Mrs. Thuy shared: “Our family always respects our son’s decision. When I knew my son got admitted to the Dentistry major, I was very happy! It feels like my son is continuing to fulfill my incomplete youthful dream.”

Also carrying on parents' dreams and wishes, freshman Le Nguyen Bao Chau enrolled in the Graphic Design major at VLU , and is ready to start the journey at a new university. Mr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai - Bao Chau’s mother shared: “This university choice has a special meaning for Chau and my family…Van Lang University is the university Chau’s father chose and advised Bao Chau to study before passing. Chau’s father was the co-writer of a movie named “Mua sen can”, and many TV series which are familiar to Vietnamese audiences. Through the introduction from his friends whose children graduated from VLU, Chau’s father believes that this school is a right place for our daughter.” 

Currently, Bao Chau has initially fulfilled her father’s dream, and officially becomes a beautiful and mature freshman of VLU. Hopefully, with her mother’s companion and the belief and support from family, friends, and lecturers, Bao Chau will have a complete and meaningful university journey.

VLU GENERATIONS IN A FAMILY

The image of generations in a family who are students and alumni of VLU is no longer strange. Mrs. Le Thi Thuy Trinh, mother of Do Ngoc Dieu Hien (a freshman of Architecture major) is an alumna of Course 4 Commercial Business major in VLU. The wonderful experiences and beautiful memories as a student give Ms. Thuy Trinh and her family determination to encourage their daughter to enroll in the Architecture major at Van Lang University. Ms. Trinh shared: “As an alumna, I believe in our school’s training quality. When I was a student, I met many dedicated lecturers. I believe that the learning environment at VLU will help learners gain both knowledge and the necessary skills for work. Besides, the university has the expanded business network, so I believe VLU is suitable for my daughter.”

Also being inspired by the previous generation, Le Tuan Khang (Vinh Long), a freshman of Economic Law, shared that he chose this major because he was guided by his brother Le Tuan Minh, a Course 24 alumni Economic Law. Tuan Khang said: “My brother is the one who gives me a lot of advice and encourages me to choose VLU as the beginning of my university journey. For me, Minh is not only the one who guides me, but also a model to follow. Hopefully, my upcoming university journey will be wonderful like what my brother experienced at VLU.”

Thai Thi My Hue and Trinh Thi Kieu Oanh (Phu Yen) are very close cousins. In 2022, My Hue enrolled in the Public Relations major of VLU. She shared that she had a lot of interesting experiences in the dynamic, personal and creative learning environment of the PR Department. By the love and pride in the PR Department in particular and VLU in general, My Hue inspired Kieu Oanh to cherish the dream of following her cousin, becoming a part of that young and enthusiastic community.

The day Kieu Oanh officially became a Course 29 freshmen, My Hue accompanied her cousin to follow and support the admission procedures. Having a close cousin by her side, Kieu Oanh felt interested and more confident when starting a new learning environment: “In previous days, I heard about her student life at VLU such as learning, joining activities, what NEON event was like,... I was very interested and excited. I think Public Relations is a dynamic major with many opportunities and orientation for GenZ to freely develop.” 

BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIPS AT VLU

Van Duy Phuc and Pham Khanh Vy (Nha Trang City) met by chance while attending the Science and Technology competition for high school students in Khanh Hoa Province in 2022. After getting to know each other, both of them realized they were interested in and planned to enroll in the Public Relations major of VLU. This common point made them become close friends little by little, always talking and sharing information about VLU up to now.. With the achievement of winning the Third Prize for National Excellent Student in Literature in 2022 and 2023, Duy Phuc secured direct admission for Public Relations major at VLU.

Huynh Tuan Anh and Nguyen Phan Thien Phuc were close friends in secondary school. In highschool, they temporarily separated when Tuan Anh went to Thu Thiem high school and Thien Phuc went to Phan Dang Luu high school. However, they still kept in touch and bonded. Before attending university, Tuan Anh chanced upon the majestic projects of VLU's Fashion Design majors on social networks and gradually became fascinated without realizing. Noticing his friend had a special love for VLU, Thien Phuc started learning about the university. Seeing the university’s training quality and the learning environment were suitable to both orientations, Phuc and Tuan Anh decided to meet at the Faculty of Fine Arts & Design at VLU. Up to now, Tuan Anh has become a freshman of Fashion Design major, and Thien Phuc has been a freshman Graphics Design major.

VLU is not only a destination for pairs of close friends. Through VLU OPEN DAY 2023, VLU successfully connected many people having the same orientations and goals to start a journey of strong connections at VLU. Nguyen Gia Vy’s group of 8 members (HCMC) first met at VLU OPEN DAY 2023 organized by the university in March this year. With the vibrant personalities of youths who love the Communications field, the whole group quickly bonded, kept in touch and helped each other study even after the festival ended. Right after having an admission announcement for Public Relations major, the group chose one day to do the admission procedures together. Gia Vy shared: “My friends and I were very excited and looked forward to the upcoming learning journey at VLU. The learning environment is very dynamic and suitable for me as well as people who are confident in showing personalities, developing their own strength.”

VLU - THE CHOICE FOR GEN Z WHO ARE DYNAMIC, CREATIVE AND FULL OF PERSONALITY

Besides the proven training quality and the introductions and guidance from predecessors, many young people choose VLU because they love the dynamism, youthfulness and respect for the identity of the VLU community.

Choosing the Graphics Design major of VLU as the only university choice, Ngo Dinh Ha (Quy Nhon) is an independent, personable guy who has many loves for the Art and Design student community of VLU. Dinh Ha shared that since grade 8, Ha has practiced editing short videos and had a special love for beauty. Once, by chance, seeing the subject projects of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design majors on social networks, Ha began to learn more and realized that he was a perfect fit for the Hoa Sac Van Lang community.

Tran Chi Nam, a freshman of the Civil Engineering major, and his father are the last people who finish admission procedures on Sunday afternoon, August 27th, 2023. Chi Nam shared that actually choosing Civil Engineering and VLU was a compromise between him and his father. As an active and energetic person, Chi Nam planned to enroll in Marketing but Nam’s father is currently working in the Engineering field and hoping his son can succeed. After discussing, they decided to enroll in Civil Engineering major of VLU so that Chi Nam could learn, succeed his father, and experience the young dynamic learning environment in his favorite age.

OVERCOME THE HEALTH LIMIT TO GO TO UNIVERSITY

Mai Thi Anh Thu is a special admission case that everyone admire. 5 months ago, Anh Thu had an accident and broke her back vertebrae, making it difficult to walk. However, overcoming physical limits, Anh Thu persuaded her parents to travel over 200 kilometers from Kien Giang to HCMC to do the admission procedures in Chinese Language major, completing her dream of being able to pursue learning passions. Although she was still in pain, she excitedly shared: “I have a special interest in learning Chinese culture and language. When I was in high school, whenever I had time, I would spend it self-studying at home, preparing my luggage to be ready to enroll in my favorite major." Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Anh Thu’s mother, shared that at the beginning, her family advised her to take one year to recover, but their daughter was too determined, so the parents were gradually convinced. The journey ahead will surely be many difficulties, but with determination, care, and wholehearted support from family, everyone believes that Anh Thu will easily integrate into the new environment and have enough health and optimism to fulfill her dream.

From August 29th to September 8th, 2023 (including Sunday and holidays), VLU continues to welcome parents and freshmen to complete the admission procedures at the Campus 1 and the Main campus. After the stressful exam, congratulations to all candidates who completed the race smoothly and reached the finish line excellently. In just a few days, the new journey at VLU of Course 29 freshmen will officially begin. We wish you a very enjoyable and memorable time at VLU!
