Seminar “Level Up Your Career”: Revealing Key Strategies for Students to Succeed in the Global Job Market

On February 28, 2025, the International Education Institute of Van Lang University hosted the seminar “Level Up Your Career”, aimed at equipping students with essential communication skills and boosting their confidence in the competitive international job market.

Speaker Kate Zhou - a Data Analytics Engineer with experience at Aceable, Clearcover, and Netskope - provided Van Lang students with in-depth insights into the formatting features of an American-style CV, key keywords in CV, and how to craft a Harvard-style CV. She introduced the PAR (Project - Action - Result) method, illustrating how to optimize CV content to attract recruiters effectively. Additionally, she emphasized the significance of LinkedIn as a powerful platform for professional networking, job searching, and personal branding.

Speaker Kristen Song - Senior Brand Designer at Google, Will Reed, and Hummingbird - shared effective strategies for excelling in job interviews. She highlighted the importance of dressing appropriately, cultivating self-confidence, thoroughly researching the prospective company, and utilizing the STAR technique to structure responses. She also advised candidates to ask insightful questions during the interview and pay close attention to their body language. Moreover, she stressed the value of sending a thank-you email post-interview to leave a positive impression on recruiters and enhance hiring prospects.

Beyond these keynotes, the seminar featured practical job application insights from industry professionals. Students were divided into small groups, allowing for direct discussions with the speakers regarding how to craft an outstanding CV.

Through this event, Van Lang University students gained a solid understanding of professional CV/resume writing, polished interview techniques, expanded networking opportunities, and increased confidence in global career integration.
