Students from Van Lang University's Course 27 of the Honors Program embarked on a journey to complete the project from October 22-23, 2022. The project was conducted at the EVG 2 Community Library in Gia Bac, Di Linh District, Lam Dong Province. "Gieo mam tuong lai" serves as the course project for “Learning through Community Service.”

Gia Bac is a rural and challenging community in Di Linh District, Lam Dong Province. Approximately 98% of its residents are members of the K'Ho ethnic group. Located about 40 km from the district center, the area seems isolated from bustling towns and consists mainly of coffee gardens and cornfields, with few houses scattered about. The community continues to face various challenges in their daily lives.

Poverty and difficult economic conditions compel many ethnic children in the area to abandon their education to work and support their families. Furthermore, adults in the community often undervalue education, contributing to children not being able to attend school.

Recognizing these challenges, students from Van Lang University's Honors Program partnered with the EVG Gia Bac Community Library to initiate and execute the "Gieo mam tuong lai" project. The project encompasses a range of meaningful activities aimed at improving the lives of the children in this community.

Under the guidance of their teachers, students are planning the "Gieo mam tuong lai" project. This project offers an opportunity for them to apply their professional expertise in community service, aligned with Van Lang University's "Service Learning" approach.

The project is carried out in two stages:

Stage 1:

Through social media, students majoring in media call for financial donations to be sent directly to EVG's charitable account. Alongside financial contributions, the university also issues a call for books and study materials to be donated at Hall A on the main campus. A third of the total funds will be allocated for purchasing additional stationery, while the remaining amount will augment the EVG Library fund. This will enable the planning of free programs covering a wide range of subjects for local children in Gia Bac, helping them gain valuable experiences, acquire new skills, and pursue their passions.

Stage 2:

Students visit Gia Bac commune and engage local youth at the EVG Community Library with educational workshops on topics like sex education and English communication. In addition to educational sessions, students also organize wholesome recreational activities such as painting, group singing and dancing, traditional games, and crafts.

Van Lang University expects that through their participation in "Gieo mam tuong lai," students will gain personal insights, deepen their professional knowledge, and enhance their soft skills. The project also aims to foster personal development, encourage community engagement, and instill a sense of global responsibility.
