Building on the successful assessment of two programmes: Fashion Design and Interior Design under AUN-QA standards in late August 2024, Van Lang University (VLU) continues its quality journey by conducting the assessment of four undergraduate programmes, including Automotive Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Nursing, and Law, in line with the educational quality standards set forth by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) in this September, 2024. This marks another significant milestone in VLU's ongoing commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement.

On the afternoon of September 9th, 2024, the external assessment team from the Saigon Center for Educational Quality Accreditation (CEA-SAIGON) conducted a preliminary survey of the aforementioned programmes at VLU to prepare for the official assessment under MOET’s accreditation process.

Before the working session with VLU, the external assessment team toured the University’s campuses, inspecting facilities, lecture halls, labs, practical training areas to gather initial insights into the teaching, research, and learning conditions of supporting staff, lecturers, and students across VLU’s three campuses. In addition, the team conducted a preliminary inspection of the University’s preparations for the official survey by reviewing documents, evidence, and workspaces designated for the official survey.

Dr. Duong Mong Ha, Lead of the assessment team, was impressed by the well-organized and accessible system of evidence at VLU. Furthermore, the self-assessment reports of the assessed programmes were noted to be concise and closely aligned with accreditation standards. However, the team suggested that the University provide additional adjustments to some information and evidence to better prepare for the official assessment.

The expert team also presented their findings from the review of the self-assessment reports and agreed with the University on the working principles of the assessment team, the official assessment timeline, and the materials and evidence to be supplemented. Finally, they finalized the composition and number of interviewees representing the relevant stakeholders.

Speaking at the survey session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu highly acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the expert team and affirmed that the University would promptly provide the necessary additional evidence as recommended to ensure the best preparation for the official assessment. She also emphasized that this external assessment would provide VLU and specifically the four assessed programmes with an opportunity to receive valuable recommendations from the expert team. These recommendations will serve as a foundation for the University to continue improving the quality of its academic programmes and fulfill its mission of providing a highly qualified workforce that meets the demands of the labor market. This ongoing effort is what leaders and every member of VLU are dedicated to fulfilling in their commitment to quality.
At the end of the preliminary survey, representatives of CEA-SAIGON, Lead of the external assessment delegation and President of VLU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), detailing the discussions and the agreement between both parties on the principles and working plan for the upcoming official survey.

The official survey is scheduled to begin on September 19th, 2024, and conclude on September 23rd, 2024. We extend our best wishes to the external assessment team for a successful mission, providing valuable recommendations that will support VLU’s sustainable development, strengthen its reputation, and reaffirm its commitment to delivering high-quality education to society.
