Workshop Practical RapidMiner for AI-based Signal Data Analysis and Industrial Fault Detection

Following the success of previous workshops introducing staff and faculty to RapidMiner, on July 10, 2024, Van Lang University's Institute for Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (COSARI) held a workshop on "Practical RapidMiner for AI-based Signal Data Analysis and Industrial Fault Detection".

As the demand for digital and AI skills grows, it's important for lecturers and students to stay updated. Altair RapidMiner is an easy-to-use tool for data analysis and AI modeling, with a drag-and-drop interface that makes building AI models simple.

Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thoi Trung, Director of COSARI, remarked: “AI modeling is no longer confined to a single domain but has become a universal trend across various fields. To fulfill the mission of higher education, lecturers should grasp this AI software and integrate it into their classroom teaching. This will contribute to developing students' artificial intelligence capabilities, meeting the current labor market demand”.

Dr. Nguyen Trang Thao, Head of the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (Lab AI) at COSARI, introduced the problem of industrial equipment fault diagnosis, guiding participants through signal data preprocessing, feature extraction, signal classification model building, and the application of this model to new data.

Based on AI modeling of accelerometer signal data, lecturers demonstrated the diagnosis of faults in operating rolling bearings, yielding classification results indicating the bearing's health status as either normal, inner race fault, outer race fault, or ball fault. The model serves as a tool to assist engineers in diagnosing, making maintenance decisions, and repairing industrial machinery systems.

The application of AI technology is a prevailing trend, offering solutions to optimize work processes and enhance decision-making. In response to the significant impact of digital transformation and AI, Van Lang University has been actively creating conditions to train high-quality human resources who not only possess professional competencies but also excel in applying AI technology.
