Following the success of the past three seasons, on the morning of May 17, 2025, the Faculty of Korean Language & Culture at Van Lang University, with sponsorship from the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, officially launched the 2025 Korean Literary Translation Workshop. This event is not only a golden opportunity to intensively train Korean language students in translation skills, but also aims to ignite a passion for literature, thereby cultivating a promising new generation of literary translators in Vietnam.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien – Dean of the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture and Dr. Le Thi Gam – Vice Head of Applied Literature, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, attended the event.

The Korean Literary Translation Workshop has affirmed its reputation as a prestigious academic platform for lovers of the Korean language and literature in Ho Chi Minh City. More than just a simple course, the workshop serves as a solid foundation for developing a team of talented literary translators in Vietnam.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien – Dean of the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture, emphasized the significance of the workshop: "This is a valuable opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of Korean literature, enhance their language proficiency and translation skills. This series of activities contributes to spreading the beauty of Korean literature to students and cultural enthusiasts in southern Vietnam."

Dr. Le Thi Van Anh offered a comprehensive overview of the course, helping students set a clear direction.

This year’s workshop attracted nearly 70 applicants, of which 17 outstanding candidates were selected for the intensive course. The opening ceremony, led by Dr. Le Thi Van Anh – lecturer of the Faculty of Korean Language & Culture and program coordinator – provided a detailed introduction to the course content, teaching team, and literary works to be translated. It offered participants a comprehensive picture before embarking on their translation journey.

In addition to the intensive workshop, this year’s series of events includes diverse and engaging activities such as meet-and-greet sessions with both Vietnamese and Korean authors. These encounters allow participants to interact directly with the creators and translators of literary works. The "Feel Korean Literature" series, which features seminars and thematic discussions on Korean literature, also helps attendees gain in-depth and multi-dimensional perspectives on the literary scene.

Notably, all these activities are open to anyone interested - students inside or outside the university, graduates or current learners—fostering an inclusive environment for learning and cultural exchange. This openness encourages literary and translation passions to flourish in the wider community.
