Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice

On March 21, 2025, the Faculty of Nursing at Van Lang University organized an online seminar titled “Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice” to enhance students' awareness of the role of scientific research in clinical practice and methods for applying research findings to patient care.

The program was led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Khanh, a postdoctoral researcher at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The speaker emphasized the significance of nursing research in generating new knowledge, improving service quality, enhancing professional value, and increasing the effectiveness of treatment processes.

Analyzing various research methodologies in modern nursing, Dr. Nguyen Thi Khanh highlighted that qualitative methods such as research conducted through images, visual materials, and posters offer greater flexibility compared to quantitative methods, which rely on numerical data for result interpretation. She also noted that qualitative research contributes to the development of new theories and the exploration of emerging concepts.

Additionally, researchers should notice the importance of evaluating and selecting appropriate evidence based on key criteria such as availability, reliability, cultural factors, and patient preferences. She also provided students with effective strategies for finding research materials and encouraged them to engage with international studies. She concluded by reminding students that the fundamental prerequisites for success in the nursing profession are a continuous learning mindset and a commitment to solving patient-related challenges.
