Recently, the Honors Program, in collaboration with Van Lang Saigon College (VLSC), hosted the Experiential Learning Trip 2025, welcoming over 250 students from Myanmar. This series of activities explored environmental issues, sustainable development, and skills relevant to the service and tourism sectors.
The series of activities included three main events: a field class in Can Gio focusing on the mangrove ecosystem and climate change; an experiential class at major hotels in Ho Chi Minh City such as Renaissance Riverside, Sheraton, Le Meridien, New World; and a class on the F&B industry at Capella Holdings. During these activities, at Renaissance Riverside, students learned about the Green Hotel model - a business model that demonstrates a company's commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, helping students understand the social responsibility within the service industry.
Along with improving their professional language skills in preparation for after graduation, the Myanmar students were eager to take part in activities that allowed them to gain hands-on experience and apply their knowledge. Many students shared that these experiences were invaluable, giving them the chance to directly engage with the industry they are pursuing. Additionally, the class on the unique ecosystem of Southern Vietnam offered them a deeper, more practical understanding, beyond what they had learned through media.
The Experiential Learning Trip 2025 marks the first collaboration between the Honors Program and Van Lang Saigon College for students from Myanmar. This activity not only provides students with real-world experiences but also contributes to strengthening the collaborative ties between educational institutions in the region.
