In 2022, starting from the reality of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on all economic activities of Vietnam as well as the world, the activities of commercial banks bear many difficulties when businesses narrowed their scale, failed to pay old debts, and did not ask for new loans. Given the vital role of the economy, when capital flows are not circulated, all difficulties of commercial banks are not only borne by banks but are the general worries of the whole economy. In that context, commercial banks are also looking for solutions to adapt to new conditions to minimize losses in banking efficiency, but there has been no research to summarize and evaluate so far. In addition, each country's economic operation is also facing the impacts of the 2022 energy crisis, the wars between Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Hamas. Research in the context of an economy affected by Covid-19 will help evaluate the impacts. Therefore, Van Lang University has chaired a ministerial-level project with a duration of 24 months (from January 2022 to December 2023) led by PhD. Pham Thi Hong Van, Faculty of Finance and Banking, the principal investigator.

Three main objectives are:
(1) Impact assessment of Covid – 19 on the profitability of Vietnamese commercial banks
(2) Evaluate the strategies applied by commercial banks during the Covid-19 period
(3) Propose some solutions mainly to adapt to the new context
Besides, ministry-level research authors also have the following contributions:
