On May 22, 2025, the Major of Oriental Studies at Van Lang University, led by the Department of Chinese Studies, had a productive meeting with a delegation from Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), one of China's top universities specializing in language and cultural education.
The BLCU delegation included Ms. Shen Bing (沈冰) – Project Manager at the International Students Office, BLCU; and Ms. Song Yang (宋杨) – also a Project Manager at the International Students Office, BLCU.
Representing the Major of Oriental Studies at Van Lang University were Dr. Dinh Thi Ly Van - Head of the Major of Oriental Studies, and Dr. Pham Dinh Tien - Head of the Department of Chinese Studies.
During the meeting, both sides actively discussed the potential for bilateral cooperation. Several important topics were addressed, notably the development of short-term student exchange programs, offering opportunities for Van Lang students to study and gain experience at BLCU.
A significant highlight was the introduction of full-ride Master's scholarships, exclusively for Chinese Studies students who complete their undergraduate programs at Van Lang University. These opportunities are expected to strongly promote future collaboration, bringing practical benefits to both students and faculty of the two institutions.
As part of the visit, BLCU experts also conducted a specialized workshop titled “Q&A and Consultation on Study Programs and Scholarships at Beijing Language and Culture University”. The event attracted a large number of students from the Department of Chinese Studies. Delivered entirely in Chinese, the workshop gave students deeper insights into BLCU’s diverse academic offerings, application conditions, scholarship procedures, and direct answers to their questions regarding study and career pathways at BLCU.
The cooperation event received enthusiastic support from students. It stands as a testament to the continuous efforts of the Major of Oriental Studies at Van Lang University to build a dynamic and internationally integrated academic environment, empowering students to confidently embrace their future. This event also marks an important step in expanding the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities’ international partnerships, offering valuable educational and career development opportunities for students pursuing Chinese Studies at Van Lang University.
