Lecturers of the Faculty of Medicine explore Elsevier Health academic platform in Health Sciences education

On the morning of April 25, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, Van Lang University organized the workshop “Elsevier Health - An Effective Solution in Health Sciences Education” at Room A.207, Campus 2. The workshop introduced a series of modern academic platforms and tools, contributing to the enhancement of teaching, learning, and research quality.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quoc Thang - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine - delivered the opening speech at the workshop.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quoc Thang - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine - shared: “I hope that today’s presenters will bring valuable experiences and practical academic knowledge to the workshop for our lecturers, especially for the young faculty members on their journey to improve the quality of health sciences education at Van Lang University”.

Ms. Hooi Ping Chee - Content and Education Consultant from Elsevier Publishing - introduced an overview of the Elsevier Health ecosystem, including platforms such as ClinicalKey, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and various tools that support in-depth teaching and research in the field of Health Sciences. Ms. Ms. Hooi Ping Chee emphasized that, in the rapidly changing era of medical education, updating and utilizing reliable academic resources is a crucial factor in improving the quality of education. She also guided participants on how to effectively utilize the tools and professional databases, helping lecturers and students better apply them in teaching, learning, and research.

Mr. Chanwit Chanthaworn - e-Sales Manager for Thailand & Vietnam, Elsevier Publishing - shared about the practical applications of Elsevier Health in educational activities. He presented how universities and lecturers in Southeast Asia are using Elsevier’s platforms for teaching and research.Through specific examples, he demonstrated that these tools not only support the construction of modern lectures but also help students access specialized knowledge in a more intuitive and effective way.

The workshop concluded with many practical discussions revolving around the exploitation and application of Elsevier’s academic platforms in teaching and research in the health sciences field. Through in-depth reports from representatives of Elsevier Publishing, the workshop contributed to providing lecturers and students of the Faculty of Medicine, Van Lang University with more concrete and practical perspectives on applying academic technologies in a modern educational environment. This is also one of the collaborative activities between Elsevier Publishing and Van Lang University, aiming to enhance the quality of education and scientific research in the field of Health Sciences in accordance with international standards.
