On September 23, 2023, the VLU’s Faculty of Finance and Banking organized an internal training session for the "Rongviet Invest 2023" competition, with the participation of Finance and Banking’s lecturers and students, to equip students with knowledge and market experience.

Rongviet Invest 2023 is a competition about practical stock investment knowledge organized by Viet Dragon Securities Corporation, aiming to test student's strategies and investment methods from many universities nationwide. Following the principle of "learning through experience", the Faculty of Finance and Banking aimed to create a practical environment for students with opportunities to network with other universities and businesses.

At the beginning of the session, Dr. Tram Bich Loc, lecturer of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, shared the basic knowledge and real-life experience in the stock market: "The stock market always has opportunities for investors, but it’s also filled with many pitfalls and risks. Instead of being afraid of “risk”, students should learn how to control and turn them into opportunities for themselves."

With the challenging fluctuations in the stock market, Dr. Tram Bich Loc also showed two common risks: FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and FUD (Fear - Uncertainty - Doubt). These two effects can easily lead investors into crises because of their strong impact on people's beliefs and reasons. So, regularly updating news, defining your stock investment style, having a clear trading plan, and managing capital effectively are crucial to minimize these risks. Moreover, investors should be patient, consistent and avoid trading on unverified news or events so as not to “fail” in the stock market.

Besides, MSc. Luong Minh Lan, lecturer at the Faculty of Finance and Banking, shared simple but solid trading methods, ensuring safety for students new to the stock market. She discussed basic trading techniques like the “do nothing” method, the “one-sixth” method, and the “three times seven equals twenty-one” that do not yield high profits but basically avoid lingering issues in the stock market.

Through the final quiz, MSc. Luong Minh Lan assessed and evaluated students' perception and problem-solving skills. She then gave feedback and answered difficult questions from the quiz to guide students for the upcoming competitions. Hopefully, Finance and Banking’s students will achieve success and enjoy exciting experiences on their learning journey.
