Following the success of the "Research Mentoring" seminar series in 2024, on February 27th 2025, the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Van Lang University launched the 2025 event series with the theme "Introduction to Scientific Research". This activity aims to foster a strong scientific research culture within the university by supporting students and postgraduates in publishing their research findings.
The seminar series organized by the Institute of Postgraduate Education consists of 4 sessions, focusing on the following topics:
In the first session, Dr. Dang Thi Huyen Trang, Director of the Master in Management and Digital Business Program in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University (UK), emphasized the importance of selecting a suitable research direction and developing the right academic mindset.
The speaker systematically analyzed seven key principles in scientific research, emphasizing that researchers must clearly define the novelty and feasibility of their topics rather than providing vague or subjective assessments. According to Dr. Huyen Trang, scientific research is a challenging journey. Passion is the key factor that keeps researchers motivated, ready to overcome difficulties, and explore the vast world of knowledge. “To advance in scientific research and publish in international journals, avoiding plagiarism is a fundamental requirement” - she stressed.
The first session of the seminar series provided students and postgraduates with a comprehensive overview of the research process, helping them gain valuable experience, avoid common mistakes, and maintain discipline throughout their academic and research journey at Van Lang University.
