On December 1, 2024, the Faculty of Commerce at Van Lang University conducted the International Scientific Conference on Logistics and Industrial Engineering (ICLIE) 2024, under the theme: 'Innovations in Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Navigating the Path to Industry 4.0'. This event serves as a unique platform for interaction with scientists and experts from both local and international universities, aimed at promoting sustainable development in Industrial Engineering and Logistics.

Featuring top international experts, the conference has established itself as an annual academic event hosted by the Faculty of Commerce at Van Lang University. It creates a space for networking, exchanging ideas, and staying updated on new trends, while tackling industry challenges and adapting to fluctuations. Particularly, the combination of technology and sustainability is crucial for optimizing supply chains and industrial engineering in the Industry 4.0 era.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, shared: " The ICLIE 2024 conference marks a new milestone for Van Lang in connecting and expanding global cooperation. In the face of rapid digital technology changes, the event acknowledges over 150 research papers from more than 20 countries on logistics and supply chain management. Aiming to become one of the most admired young universities in Asia by 2030, this conference represents the university's commitment to exploring and developing new systems while connecting and sharing knowledge with leading experts."

Utilizing the organizational structure chart, Prof. Dr. Vinh Thai of the School of Accounting, Information Systems, and Supply Chain at RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia) discussed the elements that facilitate cooperation at micro and macro levels in regional logistics connections.

Leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience, Prof. Dr. Vinh Thai from the School of Accounting, Information Systems, and Supply Chain at RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia) presented real-life examples of logistics and port trade connections in Vietnam. He discussed statistical data on regional logistics linkages, highlighting the current state and infrastructure issues in Vietnam. Notably, the speakers had engaging discussions on aligning educational programs with logistics training, exploring the benefits and challenges of micro and macro-level supply chain cooperation to enhance regional logistics and promote socio-economic development.

With the goal of supply chain optimization, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rujira Chaysiri from Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University (Thailand), has refined business management models for each department.

Focusing on resource allocation in supply chain management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rujira Chaysiri from the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology at Thammasat University (Thailand) presented financial forecasting models to optimize investment portfolios. Drawing from the report's results, the speaker tackled questions on model design, data collection, and addressing cost-reduction issues to meet future expectations.

Dr. Yasushi Ueki, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Developing Economies Jetro (Japan), summarized the aspects of Data Collection, Digital Transformation, Green Transformation, and Access Trends, with a particular focus on Japan.

"Digital applications and appropriate human resource models for different countries are crucial for labor attraction and quality management," remarked Dr. Yasushi Ueki, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Developing Economies Jetro (Japan). The speaker identified six key elements using the IMPULS model (Industry 4.0 readiness model): workforce, data-driven services, smart factories, smart operations, smart products, and strategy and organization.

At the ICLIE 2024 International Scientific Conference, attendees have the chance to connect and interact with scholars and specialists from numerous universities, both from within the country and abroad.

Later that afternoon, the conference successfully held 09 discussion sessions focused on 05 key themes:

  • Sustainability and CSR.
  • Design and renewable energy systems.
  • Design and optimization of supply chains and logistics.
  • Industry 4.0 applications.
  • Digital transformation (E-commerce, Marketing, Business)

The topics spurred vibrant discussions and exchanges, presenting various new perspectives and insights on Sustainable Industrial Processes; Optimization of Renewable Energy Systems; Distribution Strategies & Packaging Management; IoT Applications in SCM. Notably, the research content was analyzed and measured by the presenters using various methodologies, as well as product designs from real-world data sets.
