In early March 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Japan-Vietnam relations, Van Lang University welcomed a group of professors from Kyoto University (Japan), to visit and discuss training collaboration, scientific research, and student exchange between the two parties. Accordingly, many scholarship opportunities for postgraduate training programs for Van Lang University's Environmental major will be available in the future.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Fujii Shigeo - Professor Emeritus, former Director of the Institute for Global Environmental Research; Prof. Shinya Echigo - Professor at the Institute of Environmental Engineering; Dr. Ngo Quang Trung, Vice President of Van Lang University; Assoc. Dr. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Dean of the Faculty of Environment, Van Lang University; Dr. Huynh Tan Loi, Head of Environmental Science, PhD.
While introducing a curriculum related to the faculty of Environment, Kyoto University professors claimed that it was one of the interdisciplinary subjects. Therefore, research findings can be merged, applied, and influenced in many fields, including economics, psychology, health, education, humanities, et cetera. Kyoto University, with a long history of teaching and scientific research development, intends to collaborate with Van Lang University for a long time to educate high-quality human resources in the environmental field. Kyoto University offers students to conduct research with students and instructors from the VLU's Faculty of Environment.
Besides sharing training programs, the professors introduced full scholarships for Vietnamese students pursuing master's and doctoral degrees in Japan. The Faculty of Environment can present 1-2 potential candidates, ensuring the entrance requirements for degrees and foreign language standards. Professors at Kyoto University will conduct interviews and choose appropriate applicants based on their professional nature and research focus. The collaboration between the two parties will open the portal to global prospects for VLU students studying in the environmental major.
