As part of the ongoing “International Service-Learning” series, on March 27, 2025, students from the Honors Program at Van Lang University participated in a cultural and academic exchange with students from Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore), with the themes of cultural discovery and food wastage.

The event was co-organized by Van Lang University and ECO Vietnam Group, aiming to create opportunities for international connection, build meaningful relationships, and promote cross-cultural understanding between Vietnam and Singapore.

During the exchange, Nanyang Polytechnic students were introduced to the territory, modern lifestyle, unique cuisine, and distinctive cultural values of Singapore.

In response, Van Lang students proudly showcased the "khan ran", a traditional Southern Vietnamese scarf that is of simplicity and historical significance, closely tied to the daily life, labor, and patriotic resistance of the Vietnamese ancestor. Today, it is a popular and meaningful souvenir for international visitors and has also been reimagined by the youth as a stylish and contemporary fashion accessory.

Moving into the DIY activity, students from both universities teamed up to creatively design symbolic products that reflected their spirit of sincere friendship and collaboration.

A key highlight of the event was a seminar on food wastage, one of the world’s urgent matters. Dr. Huynh Tan Loi, Head of the Doctoral Program and seminar host, emphasized the serious consequences of food waste on the environment, economy, and daily life. “Vietnam and many other countries are facing the reality of food being wasted while many people are in poverty. To change this, we must raise awareness and adopt smarter consumption habits,” Dr. Loi noted.
