On October 6th, 2024, the Student Support Center, in collaboration with the Union of Students Association of Van Lang University, organized a workshop entitled "First Aid Skills - Essential Knowledge for First Aid", aiming to equip Van Lang students with essential soft skills.
Under the guidance of Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuong, a specialist in the Emergency and Intensive Care Department at Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, students were equipped with essential first aid skills for common emergencies such as fainting, heatstroke, foreign body airway obstruction, and cardiac arrest.
Dr. Nguyen Pham Hoai Chau, an Emergency and Intensive Care Department doctor at Cho Ray Hospital, underscored the significance of first aid in critical situations. He stressed the need for a comprehensive understanding of first aid principles and the ability to execute advanced procedures, including bleeding control, wound dressing, splinting, and managing burns, electric shocks, and insect bites.
Aligning with the motto "Learning with practice", Van Lang University students participated in a short quiz comprising 20 questions designed by experts to reinforce their theoretical knowledge. Under the guidance of dedicated doctors and nurses, students actively engaged in hands-on first aid training through simulated scenarios at various stations:
Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuong praised the dedication and enthusiasm displayed by Van Lang University students throughout the workshop. The session proved to be highly successful in equipping students with practical first aid skills, fostering a sense of preparedness and empowering them to make a positive impact on their communities.
