Final Round of "VLU MedTech Founder Apprenticeship 2025": Incubating Startups of Medical Students

On June 25, 2025, the final round of the “VLU MedTech Founder Apprenticeship 2025” took place at Van Lang University, featuring the seven best teams after a 7-day journey of researching and developing medical technology applications. The competition serves as an academic and practical playground for students from Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Information Technology, aiming to encourage entrepreneurial thinking and the development of technological products for healthcare.

At the event, Dr. Ly Dai Luong, Founder of DiaB Healthcare, praised the students’ efforts during the VLU MedTech Founder Apprenticeship 2025 journey and affirmed: “Even if an idea starts as just a seed, with persistence, you can create real value in the healthcare industry”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thoi Trung, Director of the Institute of Computational Science & Artificial Intelligence, Van Lang University, emphasized the role of AI in today’s medical innovation and encouraged students to integrate AI with their specialties to create effective interdisciplinary solutions.

In the final round, each team had five minutes to present and five minutes for debating with the judging panel. The evaluation criteria included: problem identification, technological feasibility, business model, and real-world applicability. After the presentations of all seven teams, the judging panel awarded First Prize to team FEMAlign for their AI application that assists orthodontists in creating treatment plans and simulating results. Second Prize to team Breat Motion for their comprehensive health management app. Most Popular Project to DentAI, an AI assistant that analyzes dental X-rays to support dentists.

Ho Phuoc Toan, representing the First Prize-winning team FEMAlign, shared: “We are very proud that our team’s efforts have been recognized. Even though none of us specializes in marketing, we tried our best to complete the project in the shortest time possible”. Toan also said that some investors have expressed interest, and the team will continue to research and develop the product in the future.
