On the afternoon of April 24, 2025, the Faculty of Tourism at Van Lang University held a workshop titled “Building a Professional CV to Shine in the Tourism Sector.” The workshop aimed to help students better understand recruitment needs and adjust their CVs to align with labor market trends, creating strong personal impressions on employers.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Van, Dean of Faculty of Tourism, remarked, “Today’s workshop theme, along with the participation of industry representatives, exemplifies the motivation to connect the university with businesses in organizing various activities that aim to train high-quality human resources with the right attitude for working in both domestic and international environments.” She emphasized to students that, on their journey to career success, a CV is a summary of their experience, abilities, values, and passions, serving as a “passport” when applying for any job. A professional and impressive CV helps students stand out among thousands of other candidates.

Mr. Nguyen Hau Can, Learning and Development Manager at Indigo Saigon the City hotel, provided an overview of the recruitment landscape in the industry and the structure of a professional CV. With many years of experience in Human Resources, he shared tips for writing a professional CV, such as the 3S formula: Sector - Strength - Spark, to find alignment between job descriptions and personal direction; and the well-known STAR formula: Situation - Task - Action - Result, for accurately detailing work experience, along with self-career orientation by identifying the combination of existing and future skills and societal needs.

Additionally, students also had the opportunity to review professional CV samples and important tips for writing CVs from Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh, Vice President of Administration & Human Resources at Saigontourist Travel Services Company. She noted that, according to the 2025 recruitment demand report for the Tourism sector, 35.42% of businesses will continue to hire across all position groups to support business expansion. Students need to demonstrate their suitability and uniqueness to seize new opportunities.

After the hands-on experience of directly editing their CVs with industry professionals, it is hoped that the students of the Faculty of Tourism gained a clearer understanding of their strengths, passions, and values.
