Faculty of Public Relations – Communication Participates in the 30th AMIC International Scientific Conference

From September 24 to 26, 2024, the 30th International Scientific Conference of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) was successfully held at the Communication University of China, Beijing. With the theme “A Knowledge-Sharing Community and Internationalization of Higher Education in Asia,” the conference attracted representatives from UNESCO as well as prominent scholars and researchers in Public Relations and Communication in the region and around the world.

Founded in 1971 and headquartered in Manila, Philippines, AMIC is a non-profit, non-governmental international organization that serves as a research hub, addressing key media and communication issues in the Asian region. Each year, AMIC brings together experts through its regular conferences, fostering an environment of academic exchange among public relations and communication professionals worldwide. Contributions presented at AMIC conferences are peer-reviewed and published in one of AMIC’s two journals, the Asian Journal of Communication (AJC) and Media Asia, both published by the esteemed academic publisher Routledge - Taylor & Francis.

Representing the Faculty of Public Relations – Communication at VLU at the 2024 AMIC International Scientific Conference were: Ms. Le Hai Yen, M.A. – Deputy Head of the Branding Communication Department (session chair); Ms. Quach Thuyen Nha Uyen, M.A. – Lecturer (Presenter) and Ms. Pham Thi Le Thanh – alumna of Course 26 (Presenter).

Ms. Le Hai Yen, M.A. – Deputy Head of the Branding Communication Department at VLU’s Faculty of Public Relations – Communication, chaired a discussion session for students and young researchers, under the theme “Advertising, Public Relations, and Marketing Communication: New Strategies for the Asian Youth Market,” one of 13 simultaneous presentations held during the conference.

The “The Impact of Proactive CSR on Sustainable Competitive Advantage of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam,” lecture delivered by alumna Pham Thi Le Thanh of Course 26. This study, resulting from Ms. Le Thanh's graduation thesis supervised by Ms. Le Hai Yen, was presented during the session on “The Impact of Communication on Sustainable Development Processes.”

The “Communicating Cultural Values of the Chinese Community in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: The Case of Lion and Dragon Dance Culture,” lecture was presented by MA. Quach Thuyen Nha Uyen, during the session on “Culture and Marketing Communication: Strategies for Diversity.”

Following three days of activities commemorating the milestone of the 30th Conference, the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre organized a plenary session and signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize partnerships among universities, research institutes, and training organizations in public relations and communication throughout the region. The Faculty of Public Relations – Communication received considerable interest and collaboration proposals from numerous prestigious partners, paving the way for promising future opportunities in training and research collaborations.
