To foster academic exchange and strengthen international connections among students, scholars, and faculty in the field of law, the Faculty of Law at Van Lang University held a webinar titled “E-Commerce and Intellectual Property: From Virtual Stores to Real-World Law” on June 7, 2025. The reporter was Dr. Nguyen Ho Bich Hang, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Eastern Finland.

By examining the context and characteristics of the digital marketplace, Dr. Nguyen Ho Bich Hang highlighted the major challenges involved in building regulatory frameworks and assigning legal responsibility in online environments. Her presentation also addressed common violations in e-commerce, including commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringements. Drawing from real-world examples, she illustrated the difficulties involved in enforcement, identity verification, and evidence collection.

The webinar sparked a wide range of in-depth questions from students, especially regarding consumer protection in online transactions and international legal regulations concerning the responsibilities of various parties in preventing intellectual property infringements. Thanks to Dr. Hang’s insightful sharing, participants gained valuable knowledge, which helped them deepen both their legal expertise and their critical thinking in real-world contexts.
