Faculty of Foreign Languages students exchanged with King Mongkut's University of Technology (Thailand) delegations.

(VLU, 26/5/2023) - On May 25, 2023, the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Van Lang University welcomed a delegation of students and lecturers from King Mongkut's University of Technology for a visit, professional exchange, and cultural interaction.

The meeting had the participation of the leaders from the VLU's Faculty of Foreign Languages and the King Mongkut's University of Technology: Dr. Phan The Hung, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Phi Ho, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saowaluck Tepsuriwong, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, Director of the Master's program in Applied English Language; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natjiree Jaturapitakkul, Deputy Director of Global Competence Development, Member of the Master's program in Applied English Language; Assoc. At the meeting, Dr. Phan The Hung, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, shared: "I hope that today's meeting will open up new opportunities for students of Van Lang University and the King Mongkut's University of Technology. In 2023, Van Lang University is preparing a new training program for international students to learn the Vietnamese language and culture. Today's event will lay the foundation for future collaborations between the two institutions."

From King Mongkut's University of Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saowaluck Tepsuriwong expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the Faculty of Foreign Languages. She shared: "Although this is my first time in Vietnam, I feel very close as if I am in my homeland. In 2023, King Mongkut's University of Technology will open its first Master's program in Applied English Language. It is an international study program for students from around the world, and we are ready to welcome Vietnamese students in general and Van Lang University students in particular. Through today's meeting, I also hope that King Mongkut's University of Technology will have the opportunity to learn more about the training program and educational system at Van Lang University."

At the event, students from Van Lang University and the King Mongkut's University of Technology got to know each other, exchanged information about the study programs, and participated in activities to learn more about the culture, people, and languages of both countries. The students were divided into small groups to participate in mini-games, learn basic Thai phrases, and explore famous destinations in Thailand and Vietnam.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Phi Ho, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, delivered the closing speech.

Closing the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Phi Ho, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Van Lang University, shared: "In the future, Van Lang University and the King Mongkut's University of Technology can collaborate to organize annual exchange programs for postgraduate students in the English language field. The two institutions will jointly organize specialized workshops for students in both Vietnam and Thailand, creating a forum for students to present research achievements, exchange expertise, and receive comments and guidance from professors of both universities. Today, we had a meeting filled with joy and beautiful memories, and we look forward to meeting members of King Mongkut's University of Technology for meaningful collaborations in the future."

To become an internationally recognized university in Vietnam, Van Lang University is actively developing student exchange programs with prestigious universities to diversify learning opportunities and experiences for students both within and outside the country.

King Mongkut's University of Technology, established in 1960, was the first public university in Thailand to be granted autonomy in management.After over 55 years of education, King Mongkut's University has gained recognition in various fields such as architecture, engineering, energy, biotechnology, environment, linguistics, science, and technology.
