On the morning of August 25, 2025, Dr. Le Minh Truong, along with lecturers and students of the Faculty of Environment, organized a thematic session for students of the International Primary School (IPS) – the Asian International School, in response to World Environment Day. This is a meaningful community activity, contributing to the implementation of SDG 15 (Life on land) according to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
In September and October 2025, the Faculty of Environment will organize 15 thematic sessions for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders across the five campuses of IPS in Ho Chi Minh City. The program not only helps students raise their awareness of plastic waste issues but also encourages behavioral changes within the educational community, aiming to build a green, clean, and beautiful learning environment.

For young students, Dr. Le Minh Truong, Lecturer of the Faculty of Environment, designed a lively, easy-to-understand lecture “The adventures of plastic tribe” with many interactive activities. The creative lecture video prepared by the lecturers and students of Van Lang University not only brings new scientific information but also creates an interesting and exciting feeling for the little students.
Dr. Truong has systematized knowledge about 7 common types of plastic, helping students easily remember:
- PETE (number 1), HDPE (number 2), LDPE (number 4), PP (number 5): safe, can be used.
- PVC (number 3), PS (number 6), Other (number 7): should be limited, due to the risk of affecting health.
The seemingly dry scientific information was refreshed by conveying in a vivid form, instilling in children a love of discovery and awareness of environmental protection.

Van Lang University is one of the few universities in Vietnam honored by Times Higher Education Magazine for our positive impact on global sustainable development according to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. In 2025, Van Lang University entered the THE Impact Rankings for the second time and rose to the top 601-800 in the world.
