Extended opportunity for students of the Faculty of Theater and Cinema

On January 12, 2024, Van Lang University’s Faculty of Theater and Cinema officially signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ban Mai Theater, allowing students to thrive in their Acting for Stage and Screen major.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. and Meritorious Artist Phan Thi Bich Ha, Head of the Faculty of Theater and Cinema, and Director Bao Chu, Director of Ban Mai Theater, discussed the MOU, providing opportunities for learning and professional development to Acting for Stage and Screen students.

According to the agreement, the two units will coordinate in training a generation of skilled and professional young actors through practical lessons, exchange with "the perennials" in the field of acting, and organize workshops, discussions, and exchange sessions. In addition, Ban Mai Theater will hold casting calls to select potential young actors for upcoming projects.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. and Meritorious Artist Phan Thi Bich Ha, Head of the Faculty of Theater and Cinema, and the speakers shared with Van Lang University students stories of stage actors and how to nurture passion and love in acting.

At the event, the students had a chance to interact with lecturers and guests with in-depth experience, such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. and Meritorious Artist Phan Thi Bich Ha, Head of the Faculty of Theater and Cinema, People's Artist and Dr. Dao Ba Son, Singer-Actor Nam Cuong, Director Bao Chu, Director of Ban Mai Theater, and Mr. Le Huu Luan, Executive Producer of Ban Mai Theater. The speakers discussed many opinions about artistic thinking, professional techniques, audience tastes, and how to cherish love for the profession.

Students majoring in Acting for Stage and Screen showcased their acting skills and talents in the casting call for Ban Mai Theater’s upcoming project, which is also the first action done by both units after completing the signing.

Furthermore, Ban Mai Theater held a casting call for Acting for Stage and Screen students. It was a chance for them to show more of their other artistic talents like singing and dancing that support their stage-acting skills. The Judging Panel gave honest comments, pointed out their shortcomings, and complimented their strengths.

Hopefully, Van Lang University’s Faculty of Theater and Cinema and Ban Mai Theater’s collaboration will open students more academic and development opportunities, which will help them in fulfilling their dream of standing in the spotlight.
