Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien - Deputy Director of the Language Institute of Van Lang University is the Chairwoman of the Literature Translation Council of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association.

On the morning of April 8, 2022, at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers’ Association launched the Literature Translation Council, which according to Ms. Trinh Bich Ngan - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writer Association, although late but is still very necessary. 

This is the first time the Ho Chi Minh City Writer Association officially launched the Literature Translation Council after 40 years of establishment. Attending this event were Ms. Pham Thi Nhu Thuy, representative of the Department of Culture and Arts, Propaganda and Education Committee of the City Party Committee; Meritorious Artist Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; Architect Nguyen Truong Luu - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Union of Cultural and Arts Associations; Ms. Dinh Phuong Thao - Deputy Head of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam - Deputy Director, Editor-in-Chief of Youth Publishing House; Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat - Director of Hoa Sen Theater; Poet Ho Thi Ca - Representative of the Love Poetry Fund... 

According to writer Bich Ngan, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Writer Association, the number of literary works introduced abroad is insignificant and is mostly produced by private organizations, universities and foreign publishing houses, while cultural exchange, especially reading culture, is a legitimate need of writers. That is why the establishment of the Literature Translation Council is urgent and requires the cooperation of many individuals and organizations. 

At the event, Dr. and translator Nguyen Thi Hien (Hien Nguyen) - Deputy Director of the Language Institute, Head of the Department of Korean Language & Culture - Van Lang University debuted as Chairwoman of the Literature Translation Council - Ho Chi Minh City Writer Association and translator Nguyen Le Chi is the Vice Chairwoman of the Council. 

Speaking at this delightful event, architect Nguyen Truong Luu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Cultural and Arts Associations, hopes that in the coming time, the Literature Translation Council and the team of translators of the Writer Association will grow larger so that they can not only advertise Vietnamese literature but also promote Vietnam. 

According to the translators, in the first year, the council will try to organize initial activities such as organizing literary exchanges between Vietnam and related countries. Besides the desire to honor the creative work of the city's writing team, this is also the association's step to contribute to introducing, promoting and, in the long term, upgrading Vietnamese literature in the region as well as world. 

The Literature Translation Council of the Ho Chi Minh City Writer Association consists of 3 members: Translator Hien Nguyen (Nguyen Thi Hien) - Deputy Director of the Language Institute, Head of the Department of Korean Language & Culture - Van Lang University (Chairwoman); Translator Nguyen Le Chi (Vice Chairwoman) and translator Duong Kim Thoa - Editor of Tuoi Tre newspaper (Member). 

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports - welcomed the establishment of the council, saying that in order that work of introducing Vietnamese literature abroad can develop in a long term and effectively, it is necessary to have a specific policy mechanism.
