Closing Ceremony of VLU Summer Camp 2024: Ending a special summer of high school students at Van Lang University

On August 14, 2024, the Closing Ceremony of the VLU Summer Camp 2024 University Credit Conversion and Experience Course took place, summarizing the two-month journey of “real learning, real experience” of more than 100 grade 10 and 11 students from 29 high schools at Van Lang University (VLU).

Initiated in the summer of 2023, the VLU Summer Camp program organized by VLU meets the learning and university experience needs of high school students every summer. In 2024, VLU Summer Camp welcomed 148 students from 29 high schools and recorded 228 registrations for classes. Additionally, outside of Ho Chi Minh City, there were those from Dong Thap, Lam Dong, and Dak Lak.

Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Standing Vice-President of Van Lang University, declared: “Summer Camp is an effort that Van Lang University has made to let students, with the needs of real learning and gaining practical experience, have the best, most direct and authentic access to all activities that a university student can participate every day.” Furthermore, Mr. Vo Van Tuan also thanked the lecturers and specialists who accompanied and created a wonderful learning experience for the students.

VLU Summer Camp 2024 included 9 classes across various fields, which allowed the students to choose many of them based on their interests and career orientations.

6 experience classes included:

• Pencil Drawing (Pencil Illustration);
• Painting (Color Decoration);
• Website Design;
• Bar and F&B Experience;
• Personal Branding;
• Fundamental Personal Financial Management.

3 University Credit Conversion classes:

• Emotional Management;
• Global Citizenship Skills;
• Design and Innovative Thinking.

Students who complete credit conversion courses will receive a conversion certificate that is valid for 3 years from the date of issue, helping them save time and tuition fees when choosing to study at Van Lang University in the future.

At the Closing Ceremony of VLU Summer Camp 2024, 158 certificates were granted, celebrating 76 students completing the courses; Of which, 10 students completed at least 4 classes, and 11 excellent students were recommended for awards by the lecturers. As an “outstanding” student who finished all 9 classes, Nguyen Quynh Hoa (Grade 11, Marie Curie High School - Ho Chi Minh City), expressed her thoughts: “The most impressive thing, for me, when I joined the classes was that the lecturers were very enthusiastic and attentive to students, and the students were friendly and lovely. It was also a motivation to help me maintain my learning spirit and fully complete the classes of the program”.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Anh Khiem, Lecturer in charge of the Bar and F&B Experience class, mentioned: “In just 2 months of teaching, I have had many memorable memories with the class. I believe that VLU Summer Camp 2024 fully equips students with knowledge, skills, and experience, providing thoughtful preparation for them to start their future university journey."

The end of VLU Summer Camp 2024 also concludes a meaningful summer for students at Van Lang University. We believe that with the knowledge they have gained and unforgettable experiences in the program, the students will be confident in their learning path and confidently pursue their desired careers.
