On September 23rd, 2024, Van Lang University (VLU), in coordination with the Saigon Center for Educational Quality Accreditation (CEA-SAIGON), held a closing ceremony for the official quality assessment survey of 04 undergraduate programmes, including: Automotive Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Nursing, and Law. This event also marks the conclusion of the five-day working period of the external assessment team from CAE-SAIGON (September 19th–23rd, 2024) at VLU. 

The ceremony took place in the N2T1 auditorium on VLU’s main campus, signifying a remarkable milestone of the University in its journey to enhance the quality of education.

Attending the ceremony were representatives from CEA-SAIGON, including Dr. Duong Mong Ha, Director of the Center - Head of the external assessment team; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hanh Nga, Permanent Deputy Director - a member of the assessment team; Dr. Le Hoang Vu, Deputy Director - secretary of the assessment team; as well as other members and observers of the assessment delegation.

Representing VLU were Ms. Bui Thi Van Anh – Chairperson of the University Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu – President of the University, as well as members of the University's council, department heads, and faculty members of the programmes under assessment

At the closing ceremony, the external assessment team presented a summary report on the assessment of the four programmes, emphasizing transparency and adherence to professional standards of integrity, quality, and reliability. Alongside acknowledging the strengths of the programmes, the team also provided recommendations for the University to develop an improvement plan to further enhance the quality of its education, ensuring greater benefits for students.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of CEA-SAIGON and the Assessment Team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hanh Nga commended the University's quality management system, particularly its well-implemented and transparent KPI system. She noted that this system not only clarifies the responsibilities of each individual but also enhances the professional capabilities of the faculty members. The assessment team was particularly impressed with the University's state-of-the-art facilities, designed to international standards, creating an innovative and comfortable learning environment for students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hanh Nga concluded her remarks with heartfelt thanks to all members of the external assessment team and appreciated the enthusiastic support from the University and its functional units during this second round of assessments conducted by CEA-SAIGON at VLU. She also expressed deep respect for the professionalism and experience of the University's quality assurance staff, who played a crucial role in the success of this official survey.

On behalf of VLU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu – President of the University, reaffirmed the importance of continuous improvement and quality assurance in education. She highlighted that quality is an ongoing journey of enhancement, and Van Lang is committed to this path in order to realize the University’s educational philosophy: "Through experiential learning, we engage and educate each student holistically, transforming them into individuals capable of lifelong learning, ethical behavior, positive influences to bring inspirational impact to society”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu expressed her confidence that every faculty member and staff of VLU is a key factor to the success of the programmes. With the "people-centric" approach, she encouraged lecturers to actively engage with students, helping them to better define their academic and career paths. Finally, she extended her deepest gratitude to the external assessment team, emphasizing that the survey results will serve as a foundation for the University to build on its strengths and seek practical solutions from expert recommendations, contributing to enhancing the University's value and reputation in society.

Dr. Duong Mong Ha, on behalf of the external assessment team, delivered the closing remarks, marking the end of the official assessment survey of the four programmes after five days of work. He expressed his gratitude for the effective cooperation of VLU, CEA-SAIGON, and all stakeholders, and shared his satisfaction with the outcome of the assessment process.

The closing ceremony concluded with the signing of the completion report by representatives from the external assessment team, the University leadership, and CEA-SAIGON, witnessed by the experts of the assessment team and faculty members involved in the four programmes.

The official survey may have ended, but VLU’s journey toward excellence is far from over. The recommendations from the experts will guide the University’s efforts to enhance and develop  programmes, driving sustainable development.
