On May 27, 2025, under the guidance of Dr. Tran Chi Minh, lecturer at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, students majoring in Chinese Language had the opportunity to explore the origins and unique features of the Dragon Boat Festival-one of the most significant and important traditional holidays for the Chinese community.
Fragrant sachets are a distinctive item during the Dragon Boat Festival. They serve as convenient decorations, meaningful gifts, and are believed to ward off insects thanks to the gentle herbal aroma from dried mugwort leaves and other fragrant medicinal herbs. Students had the chance to craft their own fragrant sachets, personalizing them according to their preferences and creativity-a hands-on way to connect with Chinese traditions.
The Dragon Boat Festival (the 5th day of the 5th lunar month) is a traditional holiday celebrated in many East Asian countries, marking the seasonal transition with various unique customs. In Vietnam, it is also known as the "Pest-Killing Festival," with traditions such as eating specific foods at noon to "eliminate" parasites in the body, bathing with aromatic leaves, and hanging mugwort to ward off evil spirits. |
