On September 5, 2025, Mai Thi Anh Thu, Class 29, majoring in Chinese Language at Van Lang University, excellently won Third Prize at the Southern Region Chinese Speaking Contest – Consulate General of China Cup 2025. The contest gathered the participation of more than 20 universities and institutes in the Southern region offering Chinese Language programs.
After two intense rounds of Presentation and Talent, Anh Thu impressed judges with her confidence, language competency, and deep passion for Chinese. In her presentation “My Chinese Story”, she shared her journey from her high school days of loving Chinese films and music, to overcoming health challenges and ultimately choosing to study Chinese at Van Lang University. Through her speech, Anh Thu conveyed a meaningful message: “Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned, but if you persevere and believe in yourself, a new path will open with even greater opportunities.”

Recalling the moment she received award, Thu shared emotionally: “When I heard my name, I was truly surprised and happy. The preparation process was sometimes stressful, but thanks to the support of my lecturers and friends, I gained many valuable lessons.” She expressed her gratitude to her lecturers, peers, and especially to Van Lang University for having offered her many opportunities to challenge herself, gain knowledge, and develop skills.

Her achievement has brought pride to the Faculty of Foreign Languages, while also reaffirming the quality of the Chinese Language program at Van Lang University: a solid combination of linguistic and cultural knowledge with practical skills, fostering a dynamic learning environment where students are holistically trained, confident to shine, and ready for global integration.
