To enhance practical knowledge and stay updated with the latest technologies, on April 4, 2025, lecturers and students from the major of Biotechnology - Faculty of Applied Technology, Van Lang University – took part in a study visit to Analytica Vietnam 2025 - an international exhibition focused on analytical technology, laboratory equipment, biotechnology, and diagnostics.
The trip was co-organized by the Faculty of Applied Technology – Van Lang University and the Center for Statistics and Science and Technology Information (CESTI), under the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City. This year, Analytica Vietnam gathered over 300 booths representing technologies and equipment from over 150 countries, including Germany, France, the US, Switzerland, the UK, Singapore, China, Japan, India, and Vietnam.
At the exhibition, VLU Biotechnology students had the chance to explore cutting-edge technologies and equipment used in the research and development of biotechnology products across medicine, veterinary science, agriculture, and food sectors. Students also had the opportunity to hear from technical experts from top global companies, who shared insights into recent technological innovations and integrated solutions, including the PacBio long-read gene sequencing technology, offering high throughput, exceptional accuracy, and cost-effectiveness; the next-generation flow cytometry systems featuring full-spectrum technology (Full Spectrum Flow Cytometry); and ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS).
The event was also a great chance for students to connect with Biotechnology alumni who are now working in the fields of chemicals, lab supplies, and scientific equipment. Pham Van Trieu - an alumnus from Class 13 and Director of PHACOLAB Co., Ltd. - shared: "I’m grateful to Van Lang University for providing such a solid foundation that allowed us to gain knowledge, improve our skills, and build our careers with confidence. Our strong alumni community is always ready to welcome and support students for internships and job opportunities."
Dr. Vu Thi Quyen - Head of the Biotechnology major - shared that the Faculty of Applied Technology, and especially the Biotechnology major, always encourages and supports students to participate in industry exhibitions, conferences, and academic seminars.
The visit offered students a chance to deepen their expertise, gain real-world experience, and nurture their passion for the field, empowering them to take initiative in the many ongoing scientific research activities within their faculty and department.
