Award Ceremony of the First Vietnamese-Korean Literature Translation Competition
On December 21, 2024, the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture held the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Vietnamese-Korean Literature Exploration Seminar and the Award Ceremony for the First Vietnamese-Korean Literary Translation Competition. The event aimed to evaluate the learning process of the participants and honor outstanding translation talents who contributed to promoting cultural relations between Vietnam and Korea.
The 2024 Vietnamese-Korean Literature Exploration Seminar, organized by the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture at Van Lang University, was conducted with sponsorship from the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City from October to December 2024. Over two months, participants had the opportunity to engage with and practice translating various Vietnamese and Korean literary genres, including poetry, short stories, and essays.
In addition to the 2024 Vietnamese-Korean Literature Exploration Seminar, the Faculty collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association to host the First Vietnamese-Korean Literary Translation Competition. Vice President Bui Pham Lan Phuong of Van Lang University expressed pride in the proactive initiatives of the students from the Faculty of Korean Language and Culture. The competition encouraged future translators and contributed to enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries. In its inaugural year, the competition attracted 183 applications and over 280 translations within just three weeks, demonstrating its appeal to young literary translation enthusiasts.
The students participating in the competition received awards for their high-quality translation works.
Furthermore, students passionate about Vietnamese-Korean culture can now join the Vietnamese-Korean Literary Translation Community group, a platform for networking, learning, and sharing experiences among young translation enthusiasts. It is also a source of exciting updates on the literature and culture of both nations. This platform provides opportunities to connect, exchange knowledge, and enhance translation skills, fostering the cultural values of Vietnam and Korea.
