On December 24, 2025, students of Class 31 majoring in Acting from the Faculty of Music, Theatre and Cinema at Van Lang University, held the course showcase for Acting Technique 1. The performance program was curated from nearly 50 short plays, from which four outstanding works were selected for presentation. The event was attended by Associate Professor, PhD, Meritorious Artist Phan Thi Bich Ha, Head of the Faculty, along with lecturers, mentors, and students from the senior class.
From their first year, students of the Faculty of Music, Theatre and Cinema are introduced to and trained in fundamental acting skills. In preparation for the showcase, the short plays were written by the students themselves and carefully developed in terms of script, props, costumes, sound, and lighting. Each work went through multiple rounds of revision and feedback from lecturers to ensure both technical quality and clarity of artistic message.

The Acting Technique course spans from the first year to the final year, comprising eight consecutive semesters, to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in acting. The curriculum covers a wide range of genres, including psychological realism, stage adaptations of literary works, excerpts from contemporary Vietnamese short plays, historical drama, Vietnamese folk culture, and selections from classical world theatre. Students are given opportunities to choose genres and excerpts aligned with their strengths to prepare for their graduation performances.
The course combines theory and practice, encompassing script development, rehearsals, lecturer feedback, preparation of props and costumes, sound and lighting rehearsals, and final performances. According to Director Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, this process helps students learn how to coordinate different production elements such as music, lighting, and scene transitions to create a polished performance, while also strengthening teamwork and emotional self-regulation.
Meritorious Artist Minh Hanh, lecturer at the Faculty of Music, Theatre and Cinema, noted that the course not only helps students master fundamental techniques and understand character psychology, but also fosters a passion for the profession, motivating them to perform with confidence, develop their talents, and deliver their best performances.
Class 31 students shared that the course has helped them become more confident, mature, and thoughtful in their portrayal of characters. In addition to professional acting training, students also take complementary courses in movement, stage voice, dance, and theatrical makeup, helping them build a well-rounded foundation for their future careers in acting.
The showcase by Class 31 marks an important milestone in the students’ performance training journey. For more information about the course’s training orientation, please see related content:
