From December 16 to 19, 2024, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Van Lang University warmly welcomed a delegation of 30 lecturers and students from the Department of Counseling and Psychological Therapy, Inje University (South Korea). The visit featured a variety of engaging activities designed to promote cultural exchange and academic collaboration.
The series began on the morning of December 16 with a cultural exchange between Van Lang University’s Psychology Club and students from Inje University. The event aimed to foster student connections, share cultural values, and promote mutual understanding and empathy between the two countries. Students from both universities had the opportunity to learn about and discuss the unique aspects of each other’s cultures in an open and friendly atmosphere.
The “Music and Emotions” event marked the opening activity of the cultural exchange visit with the lecturers and students from Inje University.
In the afternoon, the delegation participated in a hands-on experience with “To He”, a traditional Vietnamese folk art of figurine sculpting. The workshop was led by artisan Dang Van En, who has dedicated over a decade to preserving this cultural heritage. Using his skillful hands, he demonstrated the intricate process of creating colorful “to he” figures. The variety in form, color, and design excited the Inje students, who eagerly created their unique figurines. This activity not only introduced Vietnamese culture to international friends but also served as a symbolic gesture of friendship and connection.
Thanks to these meaningful activities, students from both universities have developed a sense of openness and camaraderie while learning about each other’s distinctive cultural values.
On the morning of December 17, 2024, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Van Lang University, signed a MOU with the Department of Counseling and Psychological Therapy, Inje University. This marked a significant milestone in fostering academic collaboration, research, and training opportunities for faculty and students from both institutions. Assoc. Pr. Dr. Kim Youngkeun and Dr. Nguyen Bao Thanh Nghi emphasized the significance of this cooperation in advancing human resources in the field of psychology. According to the agreement, both institutions will implement student and faculty exchange programs, organize short-term courses and academic seminars, and provide opportunities for international learning and multicultural engagement.

Following the signing ceremony, a workshop “Approaching Emotions in Counseling and Psychological Therapy” was held. Assoc. Pr. Dr. Kim Youngkeun presented Emotionally Focused Therapy as a treatment for psychological trauma, while Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Thanh introduced Child-Centered Play Therapy, an effective approach for children suffering from PTSD.
Students from both universities had the opportunity to exchange and improve their professional knowledge.
This exchange program has opened a new chapter in international collaboration between Van Lang University and Inje University. It represents an important step toward building a strong and lasting partnership in education and research, supporting mutual development on a global scale.
