On December 28, 2024, The Faculty of Arts & Design at Van Lang University successfully organized the graduation project defense for Interior Design students of Class 26, with 72 meticulously crafted projects that left a strong impression on the academic council and domestic business representatives.
This year’s council praised that many projects focused on creating interior spaces harmonizing modern and traditional aesthetics, applied in cafés, restaurants, and hotels, offering customers a high-end culinary and resort experience. Emphasizing community values, the projects also highlighted aesthetic value and user experience, with the ambition to create positive contributions and preserve the cultural heritage of Vietnam.

About the quality of this year’s projects, Dr. Le Long Vinh—Chairman of the Council and Head of the Interior Design Department—shared: “This year’s projects were diverse in type and innovative in how topics were explored and presented. That has made our faculty proud of your journeys. From deeply research-driven topics like designing schools for children with autism, to entertainment-focused themes like cosplay, or familiar themes like restaurants and resorts, all were presented in fresh and unique ways. Regardless of topic, the students excelled and achieved high scores—many above 9.0. This proves their relentless dedication throughout the program.”

“IStar Collection” is a collection of sofa furniture designs that harmoniously combine traditional Lanh My A silk and modern Swarovski crystal—a rare pairing in current furniture products. Inspired by the philosophy of elegance and sophistication by designer Nguyen Cong Tri, Chau Nguyen Kim aspires to be part of a young generation pioneering the integration of traditional materials into everyday life. The collection includes seven living room items: sofa, armchair, side table, tea table, bench, floor lamp, and console table.

The author shared that “ISTAR” tells a story of balance within contrast: minimalism and complexity (minimalist in form, complex in material processing); stillness and brilliance (the smooth, soft black of velvet juxtaposed with sparkling crystals against a night-sky backdrop); tradition and modernity (traditional Lanh My A silk combined with PVD-coated stainless steel, velvet, and Swarovski crystal).

The project was inspired by the artisans of Dinh Cong craft village. Their passion for traditional craftsmanship motivated Trang Anh to design a hotel space that embodies the village’s spirit and preserves its cultural values. She shared: “I wanted to create a space that breathes the essence of traditional craft villages. Though the process was challenging, I stayed motivated thanks to the support of Lecturer Le Thuy Quynh. My key to success is simply keeping a passionate heart and always being eager to learn.”

Pham Hoang Phi’s project “Azerai Cu Lao Cham Resort” also received high praise with a score of 9.1. Hoang Phi revealed that life on Cu Lao Cham island, and how locals protect and use natural resources, inspired his design. “Creating the 3D model based on the existing site conditions was quite complex and time-consuming. Thanks to Ms. Le Thuy Quynh’s support, I found ways to handle technical details and built a realistic 3D model that reflects the local character of Cu Lao Cham in a distinctive resort space, helping visitors gain unforgettable experiences.”
A unique feature of Interior Design graduation defenses is the strong presence of industry representatives—not only as members of the academic council but also as sponsors. In this session, Blum awarded scholarships to the Valedictorian and two Salutatorians, along with gifts for the Top 10 highest-scoring projects. Bao An Construction Design Co., Ltd. awarded cash prizes for the most impressive projects.
