Microsoft has officially announced that 82 staff and faculty members from Van Lang University (VLU) have been awarded the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIE Expert) title for the academic year 2025 – 2026, along with 107 lecturers earning the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) international certification in 2024 – 2025. These achievements mark VLU lecturers’ entry into the MIE community and move the University closer to meeting the standards of Microsoft’s Education Transformation Framework (ETF).
The MIE Expert title – Representing innovative educators in Vietnam and worldwide
The Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIE Expert) title is a global recognition by Microsoft for educators who demonstrate leadership and creativity in integrating technology into teaching and learning. To earn the MIE Expert title, lecturers must complete foundational courses on the Microsoft Educator Center (MEC) and then develop innovative teaching projects or initiatives that effectively apply different technologies in education.

At the beginning of the 2025 – 2026 academic year, 82 Van Lang University lecturers were honored as MIE Experts, placing the University among Vietnam’s top institutions with one of the most dynamic and active communities of innovative educators. By joining this network, VLU lecturers become part of a global community of over 43,400 innovative educators, opening opportunities for international collaboration and educational advancement.

With this title, VLU’s MIE Experts will gain access to exclusive Microsoft resources, advanced professional training, and the latest digital tools and solutions. They also act as ambassadors of Van Lang University, sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences in both national and international educational innovation communities.
In addition to the MIE Expert recognition, 107 lecturers from the University earned the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification in 2024 – 2025, and 81 lecturers achieved it in 2023 – 2024. The MCE is an international certificate administered by IIG Vietnam, requiring candidates to pass a standardized exam that assesses their ability to integrate Microsoft technologies effectively into teaching practice. To achieve this goal, candidates have to undergo a rigorous process of learning, training, and assessment while mastering digital pedagogy. Van Lang University has provided full support for our faculty, including professional training, study materials, and financial assistance for examination fees, to ensure the most favorable conditions for digital competency development in line with global standards.
The MCE certification not only demonstrates technological proficiency but also strengthens educators’ competency to design creative lesson plans and enhance students’ learning experiences. It also serves as a stepping stone for lecturers aspiring to pursue the prestigious MIE Expert title.

The “Creative Trainers” Program – Van Lang University’s Effort to Become a Microsoft Showcase School
Launched in the 2022 – 2023 academic year, VLU’s “Creative Trainers” program has offered digital skills training and guidance through MIE, MCE, and MIEE certification processes. The University has continuously supported faculty members in professional development, mentoring, and application preparation, empowering them to successfully attain international teaching credentials and recognition. Over three years, our program has brought learning opportunities, reflecting the spirit of innovation and integration willingness of the staff and faculty members.

In our development direction, Van Lang University prioritizes equipping the staff and faculty members with digital competencies. To date, 1,858 members have taken part in Microsoft training programs (MIE, MCE, MIEE, Power BI, and Excel Mastery). Besides, since December 2023, VLU has implemented a learning initiative on Coursera, recording 1,170 faculty participants with 5,158 enrollments across 1,156 digital-skills courses.

The MIE Expert and MCE achievements not only highlight Van Lang University’s dedication to continuous professional growth but also reaffirm our strong commitment to professional investment, pedagogical innovation, and meeting the learners’ demand in the digital era. These efforts represent essential progress toward the University’s vision of becoming a Microsoft Showcase School — a significant milestone in our journey of digital transformation.
