Meeting the expectations of Fashion enthusiasts, 11AM Fashion Show – A decade-long showcase of VLU’s Faculty of Fashion Designs is making a comeback with fascinating viewpoints, displaying 70 unique designs that apply Subtraction Pattern Cutting which were crafted by students from two recent 7:30 AM workshops.
Organized consistently for over a decade, every semester of each academic year, the 11 AM program series has solidified its reputation in the Fashion Design Department at Van Lang University. During the two working days on November 25th and 26th, 2023, faculty members and students at Van Lang took part in exchanging ideas, experimenting, and hands-on practice of the Subtraction Pattern Cutting technique, ensuring their readiness for the upcoming significant fashion show.
At 11 AM on December 2nd, more than 70 outfits took center stage in the 11AM Fashion Show, showcasing unique designs and incorporating the twisting, pleating, gathering, and draping techniques of "subtraction pattern cutting" to creatively shape new 3D forms, challenging traditional norms and principles in garment design. The application of a diverse color spectrum and different fabric materials depicted the dynamic and distinct individuality of Van Lang's student designers.
Reviewing the showcased designs at the 11AM Fashion Show, Mr. Tran Dinh Minh Huy, a lecturer in Fashion Design, remarked, “This year's designs demonstrate meticulous research on techniques, in line with the spirit of Subtraction Cutting, encouraging creativity through hands-on practice and a willingness to experiment with the new. 11AM not only an opportunity for technical practice but also serves as a platform for networking, sharing ideas, and building relationships within the industry. I hope that the young designers from Van Lang University will continue to foster a spirit of learning and innovation to succeed in their fashion exploration journeys.”
